But I wasn’t at all depressed to see Midtown Manhattan, a place where I work and that causes me a great deal of tourist-related frustration on a daily basis. It may be squished and loud, but it sprouted up organically, kind of, and it’s plan is of a soothing Enlightenment-era grid, rather than pointless ergonomic curves. Most importantly, you can walk to the bank, the grocery store, the movies…such a relief after a several days chained to a car!
